Alleged race-fixing in the harness racing industry.
Police have confirmed seven people have been charged in relation to Operation Inca – an investigation into alleged race-fixing in the harness racing industry.
Ten harness racing stables in Canterbury, Manawatū and Invercargill were raided on Tuesday by police. More raids are understood to be happening on Wednesday.
A 26-year-old man was due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Wednesday on charges of deception by match-fixing, possessing Class B drugs for supply, and supplying Class B drugs, police said.
Four men aged 34, 40, 41 and 44 were due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Tuesday on match-fixing charges. A 41-year-old woman would appear in court the same day on two counts of supplying Class B drugs.
